Applied Serendipity: Oct. 30
CARE: This Black Walnut tree is my spirit tree. When I bought the property in 2021, the man who owned it in the 1960s told me that he planted this tree from a sapling he took from his parent’s yard in Northwest Ohio in the 1960s. Which happens to be the same time and place I was born. So decades later, the tree I see from my cabin is about my age and from the area of the country I was born. #AppliedSerendipity
PREPARE: Excited to expand my teaching to prepare the next generation of Chief Data Officers—this week I start with Cohort #5 in the Carnegie Mellon Chief Data Officer program, as well as join the faculty of the CDOIQ certification program.
AWARE: Taking in the beautiful fall colors—this is always a bittersweet time of year as the colors appear in response to lower sunlight and colder temperatures—a signal that we too begin readying ourselves for winter.
SHARE & DARE : Excited to share in the coming weeks more information about the panel I will be moderating at the Consumer Electronics Show. Last year, I was asked to participate on a fintech panel—and I made the point that more bankers need to pay attention to the consumer electronics digital landscape as banking has lagged the consumer sector in digital adoption. I dared to speak up on this topic and now will be moderating a panel on banking and innovation.
