Applied Serendipity: Nov. 14

A moss-covered pipe on Allison Sagraves' property

CARE: Making a point this November to spend time outdoors during the day, take walks, and get some sun or exposure to daylight. I’ve always found November to be a dreary month; when I was working full-time it was never easy to get outside during daylight. Yet I’ve learned that the light is beautiful and subtle—there were even roses in bloom in Delaware Park this weekend.

PREPARE: My garden and woods continue to evolve; this week with the help of Greg of Rose Forestry, we did a major edit to the woodland next to the garden and by the creek. Clay pipe found under rubble has been upcycled as an entrance to the creekside trail. Covered in moss, the pipe looks like logs from the forest.

AWARE: This week is Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Happy Diwali–may your life be filled with light, prosperity, and success!

SHARE: Excited to be teaching local leaders today in the Harvard Business School Management Development Program. For the past half-century, our local HBS Club has remained committed to local management and governance education using the case method and volunteers from HBS MBA and executive education programs. I’ll be sharing more about this program throughout the coming year.

DARE: Daring to face my fears each day… small, medium, or large. Take more risks!
