Applied Serendipity: May 17

A look at how I’ve used Applied Serendipity in my own life lately:

A closeup of bees in their hive

CARE: Inspected the hives today; the honeybees are looking healthy and strong. I’m getting better at spotting the Queen—even though in two of the hives the Queens were elusive. My bee mentor Jamie marked her red, this year’s designated color. In this picture we had just marked and released her and she’s crawling back into the hive. Our timing was good—got to the hives with plenty of time to split one and add supers to the others to give them room and avoid a swarm.

PREPARE: Grateful for the artisans and skilled craftsmen working on our house and land to make our spaces more beautiful, functional and sustainable. This region is where the Roycroft Arts and Crafts Movement began.

SHARE: May is my favorite month—so happy to share happy occasions with family and friends amidst such unfolding spring beauty. Making the effort and showing up matters.

AWARE: Day trip to Rochester, NY to meet friends, take in lilacs, visit Eastman Museum and dine at Vern’s. Interesting innovation parallels from George Eastman democratizing photography to tech, data, and now AI.

DARE: Taking some big steps with my business in the next two months. Daring to own my value as I so strongly encourage others to do. In order to say yes to new opportunities, need to say no to others.
