Applied Serendipity: June 8

A look at how I’ve used Applied Serendipity in my own life lately:

CARE: Stopped at Tina’s Fruit Stand for opening day for strawberries. The beginning of berry season!

PREPARE: We’re in full honeybee nectar flow and preparing the hives by adding more space for the summer honey harvest. Join the waitlist here to be notified when honey is available. First come, first served!

SHARE: Spending some time working on art and am really enjoying the Monday Live Facebook art classes taught by Yves-Marie Salanson, Creative Director of Sennelier. Sennelier is a legendary French maker of fine artist pigments and materials such as oil paint, oil pastels, inks, and more. I’m particularly interested in oil pastel - the colors are so vibrant and the texture so luscious. It’s such a rewarding medium. Yves-Marie conducts the class primarily in French, and reiterates that this is painting “pour le plaisir.” It’s fun at this phase to spend more time on things pour le plaisir, for the sheer pleasure.

AWARE: Coming up on a year of leaving my corporate role, I’m evolving my business to do more of what I enjoy, owning my value, and saying no to be able to say yes to what’s right. When I asked one of my mentors last year how to know which projects to take on and which not to, she simply said “you’ll know.” Trust your instincts.

DARE: June is such a spectacular month in Western New York. The days go on forever—more than 16 hours of daylight and the temperatures are usually mild. I feel like I did when I was 12—when I rode my bike forever, roller skated, did cartwheels in the grass—and want to play outside and recapture that spirit of fearlessness and freedom. What did you love when you were young that you dare to do more of now?
