Applied Serendipity: Feb. 23

CARE:  “How do we care about something we never see?” Marine biologist Erica Woolsey, whom I saw speak this week in Buffalo, talks about her research on coral reefs and the importance of these ecosystems. Watch the video here.

PREPARE: It’s Leap Day next week—I’ve been reading about traditions around the world. I think I will head into the forest and tie ribbons on a birch tree!

AWARE: As I plan for the next phase of Serendipity Gardens, I’m being inspired by The Book Of Wilding. It’s an empowering book on how we can each make a difference to restore nature and biodiversity in our yards, communities, and through the everyday choices we make.

A watercolor work by Wendy Caldwell Maloney.

SHARE: I’d love for you to meet the newest artist in my Artist Colony—Wendy Caldwell Maloney. See her watercolors and learn about her approach to plein air painting here

DARE: I’ve met up with some moms who are working to protect the historic character of our neighborhood and promoting sensible development. They are daring to fight city hall and I am supporting them. My take: Hell hath no fury like a mom with a laptop!
